Fantomas -- Fantomas • 1999 • Profile: Fantômas is the brainchild of Mike Patton. The name comes from a series of pre World War 1 French crime thriller novels. The character Fantômas is an anti-hero who commits the most appalling crimes. Fantômas is anyone and no one, everywhere and nowhere, waging an implacable war against the bourgeois society in which he moves. The Lord of Terror! • Fantômas is the debut album by Mike Patton's supergroup by the same name, and the first album released on Ipecac Recordings. The cover depicts the Spanish poster for the 1965 French movie Fantômas se déchaîne, translated in Spanish as Fantômas amenaza al mundo(Fantômas threatens the world).
