In Santeria, Yemaya, also known as Yemoja, is one of the most revered and powerful Orishas. IU faculty and visiting priests celebrated and researched the goddess of the ocean and the mother of all living things, and presented their work during First Thursdays. • As part of the Afro-Latiné Film and Performance Festival, “Honoring Yemayá”, there was a show and talk back of the film “Daughter of the Sea”. This event was co-sponsored along with the Journal of Folklore Research, the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, the Center for Research on Race Ethnicity in Society, and the Latin American Music Center. • Make sure to LIKE this video and SUBSCRIBE to our channel to keep tabs on everything Indiana University related. / iu • Follow us on: • Instagram: / iubloomington • Twitter: / iubloomington • Facebook: / indianauniversity • LinkedIn: / indiana-university-bloomington • TikTok: / iubloomington • Learn more about Indiana University 👉 https://www.indiana.edu
