CELEBRATING THE 39TH EDITION OF ST JOHN’S DAY • The St John’s Day is a very special day to commemorate the founding day of the church. This event was borne through an initiative from the first ever Sunday School/Youth Group of the church. This group of young people was highly driven and managed to make the youth group a self sustainable portfolio of the church. • The main objectives around this event and similar initiatives were to see the dreams of the youths’ aspirations in fundraising campaigns succeed then channel all proceeds to the house of God, learn to give and create future self reliant church projects which would sustain the church operations improve the livelihoods of the less privileged. • St John's Day is a fundraising field day celebrated across the globe with many activities like eating competition, imitation contests, dancing competition, best dressed couple competition, best dressed children or child ,couple of the year competition, well mannered couple and so many other disciplines that you can think of as a fundraising initiative. • The inaugural St John’s Day was held in July 2001 at Magamba Hall in Warren Park, congregates were smartly dressed with no church attire. The central committee members and the founder of the church, our respected Bishop attended this event well dressed in suits to display that it was a day to celebrate remember the dedication by our Bishop for the church to reach great milestones. Mothers cooked sumptuous meals that were served to congregants at a small fee as a way of celebrating the great day of St John. • It was a must to have the church history narrated so as to bring everyone up to speed with the past, present and future of the church. In recent years, the people who witnessed the big works of St John in the early days were invited to give a full account. This was witnessed during the St John’s Day held in Budiriro Assembly, Harare, Zimbabwe in July 2022. • Bishop Dr S Mabhiza. ST JOHN DAY 2022 • ST JOHN DAY 2022 Part (2) • Having laid down all this, we call upon every church member to appreciate this precious church event and more importantly for the Youths of St John to take up the vision dreams of the founding youth movement so that The Church can achieve much more as set out in the year 2001 when the initial St John Day celebrations was launched. Go out there and celebrate in your great numbers remembering the great sacrifices of our elders for us to be where we are today.
