That includes Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, compost green manure. These nutrients serves as a basic raw material for the palm trees to produce coconuts. In order to supply the nutrients using fertilizers and manure, we have to follow some methods on a right amount, periodically in an effective way. • Apply 50 kilograms of farmyard manure every year, for every coconut tree. Apply 1.3 kg of Nitrogen or Urea every year. Also 2 kilograms of Super Phosphate, 2.5 kilograms of Potash and 20 kilograms of green manure every year for each coconut tree. It is necessary to dig basins of 1 feet breadth, with 4-5 feet radius from the base of the coconut tree. Then fill those with manure • and close them off. • It is a known fact that, dried coconut leaves spread across the farm, are a menace for farmers and it basically reduces aesthetic appeal of the plantation. • On an average about 2.5 to 3 tonne leaves use to accumulate per acre of the farm. The good thing is, these can be used as manure by the effective means of vermi compositing. • To start off with, the pit depth should not exceed 1 meter. Prepare cut the leaves in conveniently sized pieces and treat them with cow dung slurry concentrate of 100 kg per tonne of leaves. After that, introduce African Night-crawler Earthworms to the mixture, and allow it to decompose for 2 months. It is advised to apply enough moisture on the pit, by watering for 70 days and providing shade by coconut or palm leaves. • After 90 days, collect the well prepared compost apply to coconut trees for better yield and health.
