A multi-part series highlighting how the media has portrayed hypnosis over the years. In Part 5 of “The New Hollywood,” we continue our look at how hypnosis was presented from 1950 to 1969. “The Search for Bridey Murphy”, released in 1956, was a groundbreaking film based on the best-selling book by Morey Bernstein about Virginia Tighe, who under hypnosis revealed that she believed herself to formerly have been Bridey Murphy, a nineteenth century Irishwoman.
