Salcombe is a town on the Kingsbridge Estuary in Devon. It is located in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is in the South Hams District. • Like the majority of towns beside water, the town centre is on the waterfront and is based almost entirely on Fore Street. The town is a popular place for yachting and the town's natural harbour contains many pleasure boats rather than fishing boats. • The town is very much like the Cornish town of Fowey in its layout and is even on a peninsula like Fowey. • This peninsula, in which Salcombe is on, starts at Kingsbridge and ends at the cliffs at Soar. Across the estuary from Salcombe is another peninsula, this peninsula starts at Slapton and ends at Prawle Point, near the village of East Prawle. • The parish of Salcombe covers the town and also some rural areas around the town. The parish is bordered by the parishes of Malborough, and, across the water, South Pool, and East Portlemouth. • 0:00 Intro • 0:06 Batson Creek • 0:17 Union Street • 0:45 Town Centre • 1:42 Courtenay Street • 1:48 Market Street • 2:05 Church Street • 2:12 Salcombe Harbour
