Make a waterproof bucket entirely from wood. No glue. No metal. • You can see the whole making process, with many details, in this video. • I do most of the work by hand. • Special attention is paid to the horizontal wooden rings that hold the whole bucket together. • The production of the groove plane for the bottom is also shown briefly in the video, as you can hardly buy these any more. • Building a wooden bucket only out of wood was new territory for me. • Before I started filming, I made some prototypes of the horizontal wooden rings. I got the best results with forest fresh ash. • The staves and bottom are made of dry silver fir (no resin galls). • The outer dimensions of the bucket: diameter at the bottom 30cm, diameter at the top 35cm, height to the top of the bucket 40cm, total height 60cm. Wall thickness approx. 1,8cm. • Capacity approx. 30 litres. • Inspiration for this project was the following youtube video: • • Swiss Cooperage with Ruedi Kohler • Have fun........ • 0:00 Intro • 0:16 Cut and plane wood. • 2:08 Round the side walls. • 4:14 Assemble side walls. • 6:19 Make groove plane. • 7:48 Planing the bottom groove and fitting the bottom. • 11:02 Cutting rings. • 12:50 Carving ring locks. • 16:42 Steaming and bending rings. • 18:26 Handle • 19:00 Finish • 20:57 Test
