Welcome to Cookie's Critters. • We are reptile breeders in Western Sydney and this channel is to educate our customers and followers. The reptiles that we breed are Central Bearded Dragons, Pygmy Bearded dragons, Knob tail geckos, and Northern Velvet Geckos. • In todays video we show how to treat a bearded dragon with a prolapsed vent or cloacal prolapse. A cloacal prolapse wether it is a reproductive prolapse or a gastrointestinal prolapse need to be treated seriously and immediately. If not treated quickly a cloacal prolapse can become necrotic and the tissue dies. • A Reptile Veterinarian will need to be contacted immediately. While you are waiting, there are a few things that you need to do at home. • 1) Rinse and substrate of the prolapsed organ. • 2) Place the bearded dragon into a Luke warm bath. • 3) Prepare a hypertonic solution (high concentration of sugar water) • 4) add hypertonic solution to the bath and let bearded dragon soak for 10-15 minutes. • 5) Clean the bearded dragons enclosure and make sure to remove all substrate and disinfect with F10 disinfectant. • 6) Prepare a sugar paste by adding a small amount of water to a large amount of sugar. • 7) Once the dragon has finished its bath, apply the sugar paste to the prolapsed organ. • 8) If the prolapse hasn't been rectified, apply Vasoline or KY Gel to the prolapsed organ to keep is moist. • 9) Transport to Vet ASAP. • Bearded Dragons and other reptiles prolapse for numerous reasons: • Substrate impaction, • Food impaction, • Improper husbandry, • Dietary imbalance, • Underlying medical condition, • Trauma, • Egg laying. • In the future our expansion will include Blue tongue skink morphs, carpet pythons and green tree pythons. • For a list of reptiles that we have for sale and care sheets on the animals we keep, check out our website https://www.cookiescritters.com.au • Please follow us on our other social media platforms. • Instagram -   / cookiescritters   • Facebook -   / cookiescritterz   • Twitter -   / cookiescriters   • Sydney Reptile Breeders Blog - https://www.cookiescritters.com.au/blog/ • Please feel free to leave a suggestion for upcoming videos.
