How to make a light flicker. Step 1, create a new composition from video or photo. Now go to edit - duplicate to create a duplicate of the layer. Go to your effects panel and drag and drop gaussian blur on the top layer. Increase blur to 100 or so. Now click on the pen tool and draw a mask around the light or lights. Go to the mask you just made and increase the feathering, in this example we went to 100. Now go to the top layer and change the blend mode from normal to screen. • Now go back to your effects panel, go to animation and presets, and select the opacity flash - random effect. Drop that on top of the mask layer. Increase the chance of flash and flash nervousness as needed. • Lastly, go to the effects and presets panel and select strobe light. Drop it on the layer with the mask. Change the color of the strobe light to match your image or video.
