Samsung 980 Pro 2TB: https://amzn.to/4bnSRBZ • 🔥 Cool Stuff on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3B6Gqru 🔥 • Today we’re taking a look at the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD. I have the version with the heatsink but it's essentially the same as without the heatsink though that version might run slightly warmer. The 980 Pro is a Gen 4 PCI express NVMe drive so we can take advantage of those blazing fast speeds up to 7000 megabytes per second. The drive uses TLC memory, has DRAM, and a solid controller to deliver on performance. I’ll be installing this in my Ryzen 7700X gaming setup today in the PCIe Gen 5 slot to make sure the drive isn’t bottlenecked at all. The GPU I’m using the is the Powercolor RX 7600 Hellhound by the way, I liked the way this one looked. Anyways, let's take a look at benchmarking this drive in Crystal Disk Mark 8. Running the default benchmark at 1gb, we can see that the 980 Pro hit about 6500megabytes per second sequential read, 5,020 megabytes per second sequential write and had very good random 4k performance. I did re-run this test using the 8gb test file, this is a little more ideal for benchmarking and a little less real world but it does show the drive’s sequential read improving to 6820 megabytes per second and about the same 5000 megabytes per second write. The random 4k reads improved a little with the writes dropping a bit. This drive would definitely accel at being your main OS drive with enough room to store quite a few games on it but you could also just use this drive for games, media files, or video editing. In my system, this drive will be my main data drive that I’ll use for video editing and storing content on as well as a few games. However you end up using this drive though, I’m confident you love the speed and reliability. • Intel Build: • 14700k: https://amzn.to/3I2gG5f • be quiet!
