Narrated Abu Huraira: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing of the foodstuff. I caught him and said, “I will take you to Allah’s Apostle!” Then Abu Huraira described the whole narration and said: That person said (to me), “Please don’t take me to Allah’s Apostle and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you. When you go to your bed, recite Ayatul Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn.” When the Prophet heard the story he said (to me), “He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was Satan.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari] • 2. Narrated by Ayfa’ ibn Abdul Kila’i: Ayfa’ told of a man who asked Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) which surah of the Qur’an was greatest and was told that it was “Say, He is Allah, One.” He asked which verse of the Qur’an was greatest and was told that it was the Throne Verse, “Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal.” He asked Allah’s Prophet which verse he would like to bring good to him and his people and was told, “The end of Surat Al-Baqarah, for it is one of the treasures of Allah’s mercy from under His throne, which He gave to these people, and there is no good in this world and the next, which it does not include.” [Al-Tirmidhi] • 3. Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If anyone recites in the morning Ha-Mim al-Mu’min to ‘to Him is the final goal, and the Throne Verse, he will be guarded by them till the evening, and if anyone recites them in the evening he will be guarded by them till the morning.” [Al-Tirmidhi] • THE VIRTUES OF THE LAST TWO VERSES OF SURAH BAQARAH: • 1. It is reported on the authority of Ibn Mas’ud that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recited the last two verses of suratul baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.” [Bukhari] • 2. It is reported on the authority of ‘Ali (RA) that he said: “I do not consider it fitting for anyone who has understood Islam to sleep (at night) until he has recited Ayat Al- Kursi-and the ending of Surat Al-Baqarah, for they are a gift to your Prophet (ﷺ) from the treasure which lies beneath the Throne.” (Narrated by Ibn Mardawaih) • VIRTUES OF SURAH AL-MULK (PROTECTION IN THE GRAVE): • 1. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: • I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, There is a Surah in the Qur'an which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is 'Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.' (Surat Al-Mulk 67). [At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud] • 2. Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Humayd ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf had told him that Surat al-Ikhlas (Surah 112) was equal to a third of the Qur'an, and that Surah al-Mulk (Surah 67) pleaded for its owner. [Muwatta Malik] • VIRTUES OF SURAH AL-WAQIYAH (SURAH OF WEALTH): • 1. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) reported that Rasulullah (ﷺ) said: ‘Surah Waqi’ah will become a protection from poverty for the one who recites it every night’. • ‘Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) would teach this Surah to his daughters too.’ • 2. Al-Tirmidhi (2892) narrated from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) did not sleep until he had recited “Alif Laam Meem. The revelation…” [al-Sajdah 32] and “Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion…” [al- Mulk 67] • ~ • O Allah! Every moment and in every breath, bestow complete and the best blessings and perfect peace which is endless on our Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and upon his folk! as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious! • O Allah save us from calamities in our Faith and fulfill all our legitimate needs, and grant us attainment of all our cherished desires, and give us excellent ends: witnessing the kalima 'la ilaha il Allah' as our last words! And grace the Prophet ﷺ and his House, his Family and his Companions with perfect blessings and peace! • O Allah! You are Forgiving and love forgiveness so forgive me! And direct us all to the blessings of the Glorious Quran and the Sunna of Your Beloved ﷺ! • And Allah alone gives success.
