Wine-Searcher’s Wine Director, David Allen MW, tastes the wines of the historic Marques de Riscal Estate from the Rioja Region in Spain. Here he tastes their 2017 Baron de Chirel Reserva Rioja. • The company was founded in 1858 by Camilo Hurtado de Amézega, the Marqués de Riscal. He had been living in Bordeaux and decided to bring French winemaking techniques back to his estate in Elciego. His wines became so popular that wire was stretched over the bottles to combat forgery, a feature that remains on many Rioja wines today. Over 150 years later, Marqués de Riscal is one of the oldest bodega of the Rioja appellation. • The Baron de Chirel ages for 24 months in seasoned American oak barrels. The wine is a blend of 67% Tempranillo and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. • To learn more about this wine find stockists visit the Wine-Searcher website: https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/ma... • #Rioja #reservarioja #riojareserva #winesearcher #winetasting #spanishwine #masterofwine #winelover #marquesderiscal #barondechirel # barondechirelreserva
