Updating the BIOS on an HP 15 laptop

I happened to find a BIOS update for my computer while I was browsing its drivers web page, so I decided to make a video showing the BIOS update process. • The BIOS (basic input/output system) is the firmware that is stored in your computer's motherboard and is the first thing you see when you turn on your computer, before the operating system starts up. • Updating the BIOS is recommended, because it can fix some important bugs, and it can be done quickly, but you must not interrupt the update process, or your computer may stop working forever. • This is an HP 15-r127nl laptop from 2015. HP and Compaq computers from this year and newer (and maybe older) should all have similar ways to update the BIOS: • 1. Look up the drivers web page for your specific computer model. • 2. See if there's an installer for a new BIOS. • 3. If there's no update, you're fine. If there's an update, download it and follow the instructions carefully. • InSpectre is a small application that you can download from https://www.grc.com/inspectre.htm to check if your BIOS is patched against the Meltdown and Spectre exploits. • (These exploits are not a big deal, but they can only be fully patched with a BIOS update.
