The Silicone Viscosity Series Experimenting with 300CST Silicone Oil In Acrylic Pouring Art

In the Silicone Viscosity Series, I am experimenting with various weights of silicone oil. Silicone oils come in a wide variety of viscosities. This viscosity is measured in centistokes, or CST. I have two acrylic pours to share with you from my experiments with 300CST silicone oil. Join me as we find out if the viscosity of silicone oil changes the way cells form in acrylic pouring art. • In today's pours, I am using two different methods. In the first, I will use a funnel pour, and in the second, a swipe. I have my acrylic paints mixed with straight Floetrol. Each color, except the base, has two drops of 300CST silicone oil mixed in. My colors are mixed pretty thick for these pours. I try to show the consistency well in the video. • I am using a funnel with a strainer attachment. This causes the colors to separate out more before hitting the canvas. I have really been enjoying using this funnel. The results I've gotten with it have been pretty fantastic so far. You can check out more pours with this funnel in my last series here: • • The Penetrol Test Pour Series • In the swipe, I am relying on the silicone that is already mixed into the paints to create the cells. I am using some of the leftover Titanium White from the funnel pour spread on to my palette knife. I absolutely LOVE the results of this pour, and I can't wait to try out more swiping with these new silicone oils! • I, unfortunately, forgot to write down my color list for today.
