Firefox 40 Review 2015

Firefox 40 was released by Mozilla on August 11, 2015. This is the sixth browser update in 2015. If you use Firefox, you know that new updates come out approximately once every six weeks. Firefox 40 comes with over 3,400 bug fixes and fixes to security vulnerabilities. With this new internet browser update, you won’t see any new features, however, there are several improvements and enhancements. • As you probably heard in late July 2015, Microsoft introduced its new operating system Windows 10. With this new Firefox update, Mozilla has improved the user-interface to work better with Windows 10. • Another change includes enhanced security of the Firefox browser. This includes monitoring and countering malicious downloads via Firefox add-ons or extensions. Essentially, Mozilla will make it mandatory for add-on developers to go through an approval process. With this change, users of Firefox 40 will receive a warning message if they install add-ons that are not signed by Mozilla. • Another feature that will see a change is the Tiles feature. If you use this feature on the New Tabs page, you will notice Suggested or Sponsored tiles that are based on relevancy of a user’s browsing history. • Firefox Hello also sees some changes. Users will be able to add context to conversations by including a link in the conversations. These are just some of the changes and improvements in Firefox 40. Overall, a positive new update, but I could run the Peacekeeper browser benchmark test because it is no longer supported in Firefox.
