Interestingly, the Roman Empire and the Mongols interacted quite frequently and at one point even had a fragile alliance. However, this was only because by this point all that was left of the Romans was the weak Byzantine Empire and they were absolutely terrified of being annihilated by the mongols. However, even the formidable Romans of antiquity likely would not have fared much better against the mongols. The Romans were quite vulnerable to armies of nomadic horsemen and suffered multiple defeats at the hands of the Huns, a nomadic empire that likely also came from around Mongolia. The Mongols were far more advanced and organised than the Huns, killing 37 to 60 million people primarily within the settled empires of China, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Thus, it is pretty likely that the Romans would be absolutely curb stomped by the Mongol Hordes.
