Story Of Nag Panchami • Naag are deity snakes who are worshipped by the Hindus. Hindus observe Nag Panchami on the Shukla Paksha Panchami during the month of Sravana, usually in July or August. In this festival, snakes are worshipped across temples in India and Nepal. It is believed that one who worships snakes on this day gets rid of the fear of serpents. This festival finds its mention in various Puranas like Agni Puranas, Skanda Puranas, Narada Puranas, Garuda Puranas and other Hindu texts. • There are many legends in Hinduism that narrate the importance of worship of snakes. According to Hindu Puranas and the Mahabharata, Kashyapa was the grandson of the universal creator Lord Brahma, who married two daughters of Prajapati Daksha, Kadru and Vinata. Kadru then gave birth to the race of Naga. This aligns with the historical files, as it is said that long before Aryans arrived in India, a clan named Nagaas lived in India. It was a highly developed clan. It is said that the snake-worship amongst the Nagas, was extremely popular and it can be proved according to the evidences derived from the Indus Valley civilization of 3000 B.C. After the Naga culture gradually got incorporated into Hinduism, the Indo-Aryans also gradually accepted many of the snake deities as their God too. The prominent Cobra snakes mentioned in the Puranas that are to be worshipped are Anant, Vasuki, Shesh, Padma, Kanwal, Karkotak, Kalia, Aswatar, Takshak, Sankhpal, Dhritarashtra and Pingal. However, some of the historians claim that they were not snakes but Naaga Kings of various kingdoms which were worshipped as Gods. • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • **Please Like, Share and Subscribe our videos.** • Press the bell button to stay notified about our new videos! • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Music Credits: • Wheel Of Karma by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... • Artist: http://audionautix.com/ • Transcend by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... • Artist: http://audionautix.com/ • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Disclaimer: • 1.
