Clay Court Maintenance - Clay tennis courts or bocce courts sometimes develop a hard crusted playing surface. This video discusses how to break up that hard layer. • A rock hard surface can develop on many different types of surfaces. Any indoor clay court will have the tendency to form a very hard crust. Once this crust or scab is formed it is almost impossible to cut through much less remove with the conventional clay court tools. • If this crusted surface is left without maintenance then the ability of water to pass through the court is restricted or even stopped. Once the court becomes extra hard the advantages of the soft clay court are minimized or even lost. • In clay court situations where the surface has a tendency to form this hard crust it is important to stay ahead of the maintenance cycle. The court will need to be agitated, scraped, scarified, mini roto-tilled, and material added or removed two or more times a year. • Keeping up with the maintenance on clay courts will keep the owners cost down and the tennis players happy. The beauty of the clay court is the soft, comfortable surface, which tends to decrease players injuries. • JOHN SCRUBY - [email protected] • http://www.claycourtconst.com/ • http://www.oldeworlddesign.com
