How to install the OEM Auto-Dimming Exterior Mirror with Approach Light for a 2020+ (Gen6) Subaru Outback (also fits Legacy). This is part #J201SAN000, which goes for $150-200 from online parts websites. A relatively inexpensive must-have safety feature for night-time driving, in my opinion. • The auto-dimming function requires you already have an interior rear-view mirror with auto-dimming: that's where it gets the signal to activate. You can test it by covering the light sensor on the front of your rear-view mirror and shining a light into the rear-view mirror. All 3 mirrors will dim together. You will also notice the approach lights after a successful swap. Nice extra touch, but not why I bought it. • Taking off and reseating the mirrors is harder than it looks here. There is a ring of 4 plastic clips in the center that need to be pulled straight out. I broke the original passenger mirror while taking it off. Got lucky on the driver's side when I was filming. Hope this helps! • Every subscription and minute you watch my channel helps me build more interesting content, and validates that this is worth doing.
