The San Miguel Corporation Headquarters, completed in 1984 in Ortigas Center, Manila, is a notable example of green architecture blending eco-friendly design with brutalist aesthetics. Designed by the Mañosa brothers and landscape architect IP Santos, it was inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces, evident in its tiered concrete structure. The building features a unique pyramid-like shape, resembling a flat ziggurat, visible across the Ortigas skyline and from EDSA. Its design emphasizes energy conservation with a north-south orientation for natural light, slanted windows to reduce heat, and planned features like solar panels and sensor-driven irrigation systems (though not viable at the time). • Surrounded by lush landscaping by IP Santos, including ponds and jogging tracks, the complex promotes sustainability and serves as a green oasis in the urban Ortigas CBD. Over the decades, it has remained well-maintained, retaining its architectural significance. Beyond its design, San Miguel Corporation itself has expanded from brewing to diverse industries across Southeast Asia, while architect Francisco Bobby Mañosa has been recognized as a National Artist for Architecture. This complex stands as a testament to Filipino creativity and innovation, contributing to both architectural heritage and sustainable urban development in the Philippines. • #SanMiguelCorporation #ManosaBrothers #IPSSantos #GreenArchitecture #OrtigasCenter #PhilippineArchitecture #BrutalistDesign #BanaueRiceTerracesInspiration #SustainableBuilding #UrbanOasis #EnergyEfficientDesign #NationalArtist #CorporateHeadquarters #ArchitecturalInnovation #LandscapeArchitecture #PhilippineDesign #EnvironmentalSustainability #OrtigasCBD #ManilaLandmarks #HistoricArchitecture • #PhilippineHistory #HistoricalBuildings #HeritageSites #FilipinoCulture #AncestralHouses #HistoricLandmarks #ColonialArchitecture #PhilippineHeritage #HistoricalTours #OldManila • #AbandonedSites #GhostTowns #HistoricRuins #ExploringAbandoned #OldBuildings #HauntedPlaces #DesertedPlaces #DecayingHistory #UrbanExploring #ForgottenPlaces
