Great Horned Owl Mating Ritual

Wonky and Mr Hootie as they are affectionately nicknamed have been together for several years and successfully nested and fledged young owls. The ritual of mating remains the same every year. The male must prove he is capable of providing food for the young. He hunts from the roost at an osprey nest and calls for the female and if she accepts his offering they will mate.
