A Direct Driven towing winch and two Anchor winches were tested in this video, built for an ASD tug. All our winches are built and tested in our own production facility. Extensive testing is important to guarantee the performance of our winches. But what does such a test involve? • When we have completed the building process of a winch, we place it on our test bench, which has a capacity of 300 tonnes. Then a factory acceptance test (FAT) is performed on 100% load. Testing on 100% load means to determine the maximum operating capacity of a winch and is more important than you think, here’s why: • 1. Brakes and clutches are run-in and calibrated • 2. Less uncertainties during commissioning and/or trials • 3. Faster commissioning process (=cost saving) • The FAT test is carried out under the supervision of a classification society (Lloyds Register, Bureau Veritas, etc.). The final paint job is done after the testing procedure is completed, and after that, the winch is ready for transport and installation on board. • Want to find out more about our winches?
