This is your chance to redeem yourself and break the chain of bad passport photos 😅 • But seriously, sharing some Pro tips below so that you don't make the same mistakes as I did. • This is based on my experience at Bangalore Lalbagh Passport Office. • I updated the spouse name temporary address on the passport along with the renewal process. • Frequently Asked Questions • 🌍Can Indian passport renewal be done online? • While the online application can be filled out and appointments can be booked online, you need to be physically present at the passport office as they collect your biometrics. • 🌍Adding the name of the spouse • original copy and an attested photocopy of your marriage certificate • 🌍Updating Temporary Address • Proof of address as a utility bill: water, telephone, electricity bills, rental agreement, etc. • 🌍How long does a passport renewal take? • From the date of appointment, police verification, to collection of the passport, might take around a week depending on your location. • In my case, police verification got delayed by 4 days because I wasn't at home when they called and it was a weekend. But they were pretty rigorous in follow-up. • • PRO TIPS • ✅ Use Adobe Acrobat Reader to fill out the online application. Don’t use chrome or any browsers to open the PDF as it won’t work. You are welcome! • ✅Reach the venue just 5 minutes before the appointment time. We went to Bangalore Lalbagh PSK had to wait outside the gate for 45 minutes as I was there early (pretty similar to a US visa appointment in Chennai) • ✅If using Rental Agreement, carry original as well as self-attested photocopy - 2 witness signatures are a must • We had to revisit the passport office 2nd time because we had only 1 witness signature in the rental agreement. • Steps: • 1. Register Yourself Online at Passport Website fill out Your Online Application • 2. Make the payment online Book an appointment slot • 3. Carry relevant photocopy documents along with the original on the appointment date • 4. Submit the self-attested photocopy documents along with biometrics • 5. Police verification • 6. Receive passport • Updated information on https://www.passportindia.gov.in/ • Subscribe to this channel for more informative content!
