@Militiahistoria • The Tiger King: The Story of Michael Wittmann #shorts #historyfacts #militaryhistory #ww2 #tank #panzer #westernfront #dday • Michael Wittmann was a German Waffen-SS tank commander during World War II. • He is considered one of the most successful tank commanders of the war, with around 130 enemy tank kills. • Wittmann served in the 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and later in the SS Heavy Tank Battalion 101, where he gained fame for his actions on the Eastern and Western fronts. • Wittmann began his military career in the German army in 1934, before transferring to the SS in 1936. • He quickly established himself as a skilled and daring commander, and was eventually given command of his own tank platoon. • He was known for his aggressive and audacious tactics, which often resulted in the destruction of large numbers of enemy vehicles and equipment.
