Learn how to make black frosting for Halloween or for any time of the year! I have struggled trying to achieve black frosting in the past, until I learned the simple trick of using Americolor Super Black gel food color with black cocoa powder (See the links below). Black frosting is actually really easy to make with those items as well as time. Letting the black frosting sit overnight, for a few days on the counter, or in the refrigerator will help the color become darker. You can also start out using a chocolate buttercream frosting, which will help get you a dark black color and use less food coloring. If you use reusable piping bags, note that the black food coloring may stain them, so try to reserve a specific piping bag to use only for black frosting or use disposable piping bags. • For every one cup of frosting, use 3 drops of Americolor Gel Food color and use 1 tbsp of black cocoa powder. You can achieve a black frosting without using the black cocoa powder, but you will use a lot of food coloring. • Directions • 1. Make your favorite buttercream frosting or buy store bought frosting. • 2. Use 3 drops or more of Americolor Super Black gel food coloring or another type of gel food coloring to every 1 cup of frosting, stirring until all the ingredients are combined. Let the frosting sit overnight on the counter or in the refrigerate and the color should darken. • 3. The easiest way to get black frosting, is to use 3 drops of Americolor Super Black gel food coloring and 1 tbsp of Wincrest black cocoa powder to every 1 cup of frosting, stirring until all the ingredients are combined.
