The verse in Quran proves the wilayat of Ali(as), while he bow down and gave away his ring to a beggar, • 5:55, ''Verily, your Wali (Protector or Helper) is Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, - those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, while they bow down (submit themselves with obedience to Allah in prayer).'' • Ibn Katheer has recorded another narration from 'Tafseer al-Tabari' Volume 6 page 389 and raised no objection to the chain. • Muhammad bin al-Hussain -- Ahmad bin Mufadhal -- Asbaat - Al-Sedi who said: Then he told them whom they take as guardian, he said {Your guardian can be only Allah; and His messenger and those who believe, who establish worship and pay the poordue, and bow down (in prayer) } they are the believers, but it was Ali bin Abi Talib when a man asked him while he was bowing in the mosque, he gave him his ring. • There are many more scholars who also admits that the verse was revealed on Imam Ali (as), and few more in past also said that it can possibly revealed on Imam Ali(as) or for all Muslims, However, the verse is clear itself because this was an actual incident took place in history. • '' The Apostle (may peace and blessing be upon him): O Ali, no one but a believer would love you, and none but a hypocrite would nurse grudge against you'' • Sahih Muslim, English version, Chapter XXXIV, p46, Tradition #141 • We recognized the hypocrites by their hatred of Ali. • Reference: Fada'il al-Sahaba, by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v2, p639, Tradition 1086 • The Messenger of Allah said: Whoever hurts Ali, has hurt me • Reference: Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, v3, p483 • The Messenger of Allah said to Ali: Your position to me is like the position of Aaron (Haroon) to Moses, except that there shall be no Prophet after me • Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari, Arabic-English version, Traditions 5.56, 5.700 • Sahih Muslim, Arabic, v4, pp 1870-71 • Ali is from me and I am from Ali and after me he is the guardian (Wali) of every true believer. • Reference: Sunan Tirmidhi, volume 2, page 298 • ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' • Ten years after the migration, the Messenger of Allah ordered to his close • followers to call all the people in different places to join him in his • last pilgrimage. On this pilgrimage he taught them how to perform the • pilgrimage in a correct and unified form. • This was first time that the Muslims with this magnitude gathered in one • place in the presence of their leader, the Messenger of Allah. On his way • to Mecca, more than seventy thousand people followed Prophet (PBUH HF). • On the fourth day of Dhul-Hajjah more than one hundred thousand Muslims • had entered Mecca. • On the 18th of Dhul-Hajjah, after completing his last pilgrimage (Hajjatul- • Widaa), Prophet was leaving Mecca toward Medina, where he and the crowd of • people reached to a place called Ghadir Khum (which is close to today's • Juhfah). It was a place where people from different provinces should say • Good bye to each other and take different routes for their home. In this • place Prophet stopped and the ayah was revealed and also gave a speech. • The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves? People cried and answered: Yes, O' Messenger of God. Then Prophet (PBUH) held up the hand of Ali and said: Whoever I am his leader (Mawla), Ali is his leader (Mawla). O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him. • Reference: Sahih Tirmidhi, v2, p298, v5, p63 • Sunan Ibn Maja, v1, pp 12,43 • • The word Mawla has 17 different meanings in Quran or more than that, it can also mean, Friend, Master, slave, brother, believer even God, etc. However, the sunni brothers refer the word Mawla as 'Brother' in the above hadith I qouted, but is if you look this in a context Prophet wouldn't stop thousand of companions and in his last speech and he wouldn't tell his companions that Ali is his brother because everyone knew Ali is his cousin this was an obvious thing. Prophet took Ali's hand and raised up and told everyone very clearly, Lets see once again in a context : Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves?, and then he said whoever Whoever I am his Mawla, Ali is his Mawla. O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him. • So he said 'Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves' meaning Ali gets the same rights over the believers because his next line refers to Ali being a next leader. • May Allah guide us All and show us the right path. Ameen
