Video Courtesy to Maharlika TV • / maharlikatv • Email: [email protected] • The Metro Manila Subway project, is one of the Duterte’s Administration most ambitious and monumental projects, as it was dubbed as “the Philippines project of the century. • The Philippines Transportation department announced that the tunnel works, for the Philippines’ first underground railway system will start by the second quarter, with the positioning of the tunnel boring machines from Japan, set to start in April. • The new timetable represents one quarter’s slippage in subway progress. As communicated last year, excavation would begin in the first quarter of 2022, with lowering and assembly taking “two to three months starting in December. • The Metro Manila Subway Project’s overall progress rate as of November 2021 stand at 25.09%. The Subway is scheduled to begin its partial operation for its first 3 partial operability section of the subway system in the last quarter this year. • Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko attended the signing of the 253.307 billion yen ODA loan agreement for the Metro Manila Subway Project 2nd tranche between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Department of Finance. • “With the strong determination of the Duterte administration, this “project of the century” is now steadily progressing. Soon, Japan’s tunnel boring machines will start excavating under the Metro Manila area in the 2nd quarter of this year,” the Japan Embassy said. • The subway project, which is under the Build, Build, Build program will have a 17-station subway.
