誕生獅子保存会 Spiritual Dance with Lion’s Mask Ikuta-Shrine http://www.birthlion.com • 私たちは神戸生田神社の獅子舞を継承しています。黒地に赤い牡丹の法被が特徴です。 生田神社の獅子舞は、最初に社史のなかに名前が出てくるのは、『寛文三年(1663 年)御 幸祭』の次第書になります。御幸祭行列のなかで、三番で獅子頭が出ていた記録がありま す。 • We are a group that inherits shishimai, spiritual dance performance with a lion’s mask, of Kobe Ikuta shrine. We perform in black happi, a traditional uniform for festivals, with a unique pattern of red peony. Ikuta shrine’s shishimai first appeared in the historical document that recorded the ceremonial schedule of miyuki-sai, a religious festival, in 1663. The record mentions that shishimai was positioned at the third in the festival proceeding. • [寛文三年八月廿日 御幸祭之次第書] • 三の二。生田村、獅子頭屋形出ル。屋形口江刀弥馬ニ乗。供、村中供仕候。 • (The line written in the record) • 現在も神幸祭で街を練り歩くときは、行列の先導として清め祓い、人々の頭を噛んで厄 除・健康長寿を祈願するのが役目です。そして拝殿で舞うときは『胡蝶崩し』を披露しま す。雌雄の営みがあり、子獅子を生んで、寿ぎの舞いを神へ捧げます。 • Even today, shishimai takes the role to lead the proceeding of miyuki-sai. When it walks around biting people's head, it symbolically purifies the places, prays for the removal of negative vibes, and brings in long and healthy lives. Moving to the shrine architecture, we perform a set of dance called kocho-kuzushi. It represents fertility, giving birth and celebration to be dedicated to the god. • これまで生田神社は災害などで何度か中断してきた歴史があり、その都度、新しい風を取 り入れて復活してきました。獅子舞は、「蘇りの社」と呼ばれている生田神社を象徴する ものとして力強く舞い、そして新たな命を生み出します。「新しい生命の誕生」こそが 350 年以上続く生田神社の獅子舞です。 • Ikuta shrine has experienced severe natural disasters several times in its history. However, they always have embraced it as an opportunity for a new movement. Shishimai is a symbol of Ikuta shrine that is also known as yomigaeri-no-yashiro, the shrine of revival. Its dance is dynamic.
