Königssee is a natural lake located in Bavaria (Bayern) in southern Germany, and situated within Berchtesaden Alps (Berchtesgadener Alpen). Konigssee is 7.7 km long (4.8 mi) with a depth of up to 190 metres (620 ft). The lake was formed by glaciers during the last ice age and is deeply nestled between towering cliffs at the foot of the Watzmann East Wall in the heart of the Berchtesgaden National Park.
