This weekend I felt like going back to some of the earlier Mauser designs from the 1890s, and before you click away I ask you to please stay and give these old guns a chance. You might just find that C Rs are more fun than you originally thought! • We begin with the Fusil Mauser Espanol Modelo 1893, aka the Spanish M93 Mauser long rifle. These were used famously during the Spanish-American War at San Juan Hill. • Next, we have the Carabina Mauser Espanol Modelo 1895, which was actually still an M93 but in cavalry carbine form. • These Mausers were first built by Ludwig Loewe in Germany, and then after 1896 by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM). Soon production would begin at Fábrica de Armas in Oviedo, Spain too. • Then we move to the improved Fusil Mauser Chileno Mo 1895 and Carabina Mauser Chilena Modelo 1895, both built by Loewe DWM in Germany for Chile. • And we end with the Mosqueton Mauser Espanol Modelo 1916, which was a uniquely Spanish Mauser short rifle variant based on the M93. • It was primarily built in Oviedo, but during the Civil War also by Industrias de Guerra de Cataluna. • • Interested in becoming a Patreon contributor?
