Our vet advisor Joris Somers explains when and how you should treat for Coccidiosis. • When Coccidiosis is causing issues on farm you will have to resort to using coccidiostats such as Dycoxan. • It's not just about focusing on the calf that's sick, but actually all the calves in the pen will have been exposed so they all will need treatment. • If you have a history of coccidiosis on the farm you know that that's a product you should be using. If not, it would be worth getting a faecal sample tested through your vet, to identify if it is coccidiosis causing the issue. Then you can target the calves that have been exposed to coccidiosis. • When to dose calves for cociddioss has to do with when they're exposed to the parasite. IN general, two weeks after exposure is when dosing should happen. This will prevent clinical issues but still allow the calves to have some sort of exposure and in the long run, build up immunity against coccidiosis. • Calves that do develop scour will need some support, electrolytes and fluid will be needed to get the calf over its episode of calf scour. • Find out more about Dycoxan here 👉 https://www.glanbiaconnect.com/shop/p...
