Last section of roof to frame is the rear over frame. Our engineering requires that we fully sheathe the roof under the over frame. This is also called a California Valley and Scotch Valley. • To shoot level from the rakewall, I used the Stabila LAR350 because I have it and its easy. In the future I'll just use a dot laser. Simple and fast. To figure the sleeper valley bevels, take 90 - (sum of the backing bevels). For a regular roof, you just double the backing bevel and subtract from 90. For irregular roofs, figure backing bevels for both sides, add them together and subtract from 90. • • Please remember that I'm not showing the best way to form footings, but just the method that works well for us.
