For those who miss our live birthing den stream, here's a look back at our Polar bear family while they were still in the den! • The male cubs were born at the Toledo Zoo on November 11, 2022, to 24-year-old mom, Crystal, and 18-year-old dad, Nuka. The Polar bear Species Survival Program (SSP) issued a breeding recommendation for Crystal in hopes of mating to sustain this vulnerable species. • The bears are currently off-exhibit to provide a safe place for Crystal to raise the cubs. They are estimated to make their public exhibit debut in the spring of 2023. • Help us name the cubs by casting your vote for our naming contest! The contest closes at midnight on March 12. We will announce the winning names shortly before the cubs go on exhibit. Visit https://www.toledozoo.org/polar-bear-... • You can also text CUBS to 419-900-8966 and subscribe to our interactive messaging stream for more cub updates. Message and data rates may apply and frequency varies. Opt out at any time. • You’ll want to meet the cubs once they’re on exhibit, so be sure to purchase or renew your membership! Zoo membership pays for itself after just two visits. Members receive unlimited admission, free parking, exclusive discounts and more. • Join today at https://www.toledozoo.org/membership • You can also adopt the Polar bears by becoming a Zoo PAL sponsor. These sponsorships are the public’s best way to participate in our animal care, as donations go directly to support animal diets, enrichment and health. • Learn more at https://www.toledozoo.org/zoopal
