In many circles, the word Viberg is practically shorthand for top tier boots: if you have Vibergs, you know boots. • They're unlike any other boots I've worn, but are they worth that much? Read the full review: https://stridewise.com/viberg-service... ‎ • OVERVIEW • A very classic, traditional look help support the idea of this boot as an icon of masculine style. • There’s no fancy stitching or unusual toecaps — not in the Brown Chromexcel anyway — but a few things stand out: the stitchdown welt, the leather selection, the wide last, and the fact that these are very heavy boots. • LEATHER • This is Chromexcel® leather from Horween Leather Company, a beloved American tannery founded in Chicago over a hundred years ago. Chromexcel is their flagship product and it’s made with 89 processes over 28 working days, resulting in a leather infused with a huge variety of oils and waxes and fats, including beef tallow and beeswax. • Chromexcel has great depth of color, but the top finish scratches pretty easily. • LEATHER CARE • Venetian shoe cream every few months should be enough to keep this leather conditioned and happy. If you want a shinier leather, try Saphir’s Renovateur. Don’t stress too much about care — this is pretty durable leather. • ** Compare with the Alden Indy:    • Alden Indy Boot Review: Worthy of Ind...   • SOLE • There’s a lot going on here: a slip resistant Dainite outsole, then a leather insole, then a thin cork midsole, a steel shank, a leather insole, and a leather heel seat with foam in it. I’ve never seen such a complicated sole and this is really where the boot shines. • The stitchdown welt means the upper is sewn directly into the sole. It’s just as water resistant as a Goodyear welt, but it’s a lot harder to resole. It’s not impossible, but there’s a good chance the leather will stretch during the process. • FIT SIZING • Order a half size down from your normal sneaker size. I’m an 11.75 on a Brannock device and I’m a size 11 in Thursday, Red Wing, Wolverine, Chippewa, and Viberg as well. • These shoes are available in size 6 to 13 and it’s made on the 2030 last, for which ONLY ONE WIDTH is available — and it’s an E with. Many consider this the best boot in the world, and it’s not even available in the “normal” (D) width. The 2030 last is roomy and it’s perfectly okay for a D width, but I want a perfect fit if I’m paying this much. • ** Read my Ultimate Guide to How Boots Should Fit https://stridewise.com/how-boots-shou... • PRICE • With shipping, it’s $695 for a pair. You won’t find them cheaper if you look for them outside the regular Viberg store. • PROS • Great, traditional look • Heavyweight sole makes you feel indestructible • Great leather selection • Dainite sole is great for inclement weather • CONS • Hard to resole • Not sleek or formal • Only available in E width • Insanely expensive • READ THE FULL REVIEW: https://stridewise.com/viberg-service...
