The book tried to solve the problem of rent seeking and inflated land value. The solution would be known as the single tax system, removing all taxes and replacing them with a land value tax. The idea became extremely popular and sparked a movement called georgism. The single tax system was however never implemented, and the problem of rent seeking remains. • But even after the death of Henry George, there are still active georgists around the world fighting for the land value tax to be implemented.
