We’ll begin by explaining the term “dermatome”, which is a combination of two Ancient Greek words; “derma” meaning “skin”, and “tome”, a “cutting” or “thin segment”. It is an area of skin which is innervated by a single dorsal root of the spinal nerve. As dorsal roots are organised in segments, dermatomes are as well. • Next, we’ll get to know two different dermatome maps, the Keegan Garrett and Foester maps. Once we have tackled this, we’ll discuss the dermatomes of the axial structures and limbs. • We’ll wrap up the tutorial by talking about dermatome landmarks and finally seeing their importance on the clinical setting in our “clinical notes” section. • ========================================== • To master this topic, click on the link and carry on watching the full video (available to Premium members): https://khub.me/2xzns • ========================================== • Want to test your knowledge on the dermatomes?
