How to fix deep car scratch tutorial with: 6 in. I scratched my car by driving onto a bent wire in a construction zone. I was really upset that my brand new RAV4 was scratched. My initial reaction was to call a auto body shop hoping that someone will fix it. I called multiple shops and they all told me that they would have to remove all the paint on the door in order to cover the scratch with fresh paint. Otherwise, the scratch would still be noticeable. To remove the paint, fix the scratch and reapply the paint it would have cost approximately $600 plus tax. And since my car was red, it would be difficult to match the colour which would result in doing it to both doors. This would have cost $1200 plus tax, all of this money just to get my RAV4 to look like it did before. So I started researching and trying to figure out how to fix the scratch myself. As I pieced the research together, I decided to make a video for people so that they too can find this information easily. I know the result isn’t perfect and the scratch is still noticeable but after three years, I don’t have a single spot of rust.
