CH Hanson's Automatic Locking Pliers (http://toolguyd.com/2011/03/ch-hanson...) are described as set and forget. The jaws open and close without needing to turn an adjustment screw, although there is a clamping-pressure adjustment that needs to be set initially according to preference. But how well does these automatic pliers work?... (Pretty well, actually)
