Reviewing the Elco 99hp Electric Outboard with WoodenBoats Greg Rössel

On a foggy afternoon last August, Dean Heinemann of Elco Motor Yachts in Athens, New York, and Shawn Grant of Brightside Wooden Boat Services in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, came to the WoodenBoat campus with a 9.9-hp Elco electric outboard. Greg Rössel, contributing editor of WoodenBoat magazine, reviewed that outboard for the November/December issue of WoodenBoat. Aaron Porter graciously donated the use of his 15’6” Jericho Bay Lobster Skiff (see WoodenBoat Nos. 210 and 211) for the afternoon, and stayed around to watch. WoodenBoat editors Matt Murphy and Robin Jettinghoff were also present.
