Get your life together with the Nifty Organization Journal: bit.ly/2AYkXm2 • Here is what you'll need! • HIDDEN COMPARTMENT FLOATING SHELF • MATERIALS • Lumber: • Inner piece • A. 9” x 24” (1) • B. 4” x 9” (2) • C. 4” x 22” (1) • Outer piece • D. 6” x 24” (1) • E. 9” x 24” (1) • F. 4” x 21” (1) • G. 4” x 8” (2) • Corner Braces: • 1” (6) • 1 ½” (8) • 8” drawer slides (2) • Wood stain (walnut) • Clean cloth or brush • 18” french cleat hanger • Level • Drill • 5/16” drill bit • Phillips head bit • Drywall anchors (5) • • INSTRUCTIONS • Assemble inner piece: • Lay “C” flat • Align both “B” pieces at opposite ends of “C”, standing on end • Using a power drill, attach “B’s” to “C” using 1” corner braces positioned in the lower corners • Lay “A” flat and place your now-connected “B/C” pieces, matching the edges of piece “A” • Connect part “C “to “A” using two 1 ½” corner braces • Connect both “B’s” to “A” using one 1 ½” corner braces each • Assemble outer piece: • Lay “F” flat • Align both “G” pieces standing on ends at opposite ends of “F” • Using a power drill, attach “G’s” to “F” using 1” corner braces positioned in the lower corners • Lay “E” flat and place your now-connected “F/G” pieces centered squarely • Connect part “F” to “E” using two 1 ½” corner braces • Connect both “G’s” to “E” using one 1” corner braces each • Align flush and connect “D” to “E“ using two 1 ½” corner braces • Attach two 1” corner braces connecting both “G’s” to “D” in their upper corners • Add drawer slides: • Take “inner piece” and lay flat on “A” side • Align 8” slide on interior of “B,” ½” below top edge • Use drill to attach each slide to interior of “B” • Combine inner and outer: • Flip “outer piece” and align with “inner piece” as if drawer is open • Extend slides out, so they line up on the exterior of both “G’s” • Attach to “G’s” with drill • Slide drawer closed • Mounting • Center and attach 18” french cleat mounting hanger to exterior of “C” using drill • Level and mark french cleat wall mount at desired wall height • Using 5/16” drill bit, drill holes in drywall for anchors • Insert anchors into drywall • Attach wall mount using drill and screws • Hang shelf onto mounted french cleat • Check us out on Facebook! - facebook.com/buzzfeednifty • Credits: https://www.buzzfeed.com/bfmp/videos/... • • MUSIC • Strut Delux_Full • Licensed via Warner Chappell Production Music Inc.
