Tips • At Sauvie Island Lavender Farm, I have had many customers over the years want me to identify the lavender in their garden by giving me a description. This is usually enough for me to categorize their lavender into one of three main types: French, Lav. x. intermedia, English, Lav. angustifolia, or Spanish, Lav. stocheas. • Each has a different look, bloom time, and use in the garden. Here’s the highlight on how to identify lavender types. • French Lavender • Tall flower stems with longer narrow flower spikes. • Hybrid lavenders.
