If it’s broken, it may keep the dryer from starting when the door is closed. To test the door switch, see if the drum light turns on and off when you press and release the door switch. If not, then the door switch is probably defective. Replace the door switch using the steps in this video. Before you begin, wear work gloves to protect your hands. Unplug the laundry center. Shut off the gas. Remove the front access panel mounting screws. Pull off the front access panel. Remove the control panel mounting screws. Pull the control panel down and forward to release it. Let the control panel hang by the wires below the front panel. Open the dryer door. Reach behind the front panel and squeeze the mounting tabs while pushing the door switch through the front of the panel. Disconnect the door switch wires. Connect the wires to the new door switch. Push the new door switch into the front panel. Push the control panel onto the frame and engage the locking tabs. Reinstall the control panel mounting screws. Position the front access panel on the laundry center frame. Reinstall the mounting screws. Plug the laundry center back in. Turn on the gas supply.
