Death models fill up every screen. Meanwhile, we are being-toward-death, and yet avoid thinking about it. This is part one of (at least) two videos on how we conceive of death, and how we might consider it a source of meaning--that is, until the simulation machine processes it. • This video explains the basics of Heidegger's phenomenology, throws in some ready-to-hand and other explanations, but is intended as a general argument as to how death gives life meaning. The next video will show the alternative: the disenchantment of death. • • If you like the work there's more at https://spoti.fi/3f0OIXD and / plasticpills • • Thank @Oscar Heath for the transcriptions! • Being and Time Link: https://amzn.to/2ZOjSNk • Heidegger and Nazism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_... • • Timecode • 0:00 Introduction • 1:37 Heidegger • 3:38 Being and Time • 5:10 Dasein • 5:55 Thrownness • 7:29 Being-toward-Death • 8:45 Care Ready-to-Hand • 11:08 Fallenness and Inauthenticity • 12:35 Authenticity
