In this video from the HPCAC Swiss Conference 2014, Pavel Shamis from Oak Ridge National Laboratory presents: OpenSHMEM. • OpenSHMEM is a partitioned global address space (PGAS) one-sided communications library that is capable of decoupling the data transfer from the synchronization of the communication source and target. It uses remote memory access (RMA) for one-sided communication mechanism that allows data to be transferred from one processing element memory space to another PE memory space. • In order to enable research and development of the OpenSHMEM library and applications, ORNL, together with the OpenSHMEM community, develops software ecosystems providing debugging and code analysis tools. Universal Communication Substrate (UCCS) for high performance communication, and runtime abstraction. In addition, as part of the ecosystem, hardware vendors together with ORNL co-design software and hardware capabilities aiming to minimize software overheads by offloading the OpenSHMEM operations to the network hardware. • In this this talk, I will present recent advances in the the area of OpenSHMEM extensions, implementations, and tools. • • Learn more: http://www.hpcadvisorycouncil.com/eve... • Sign up for our insideHPC Newsletter: http://insidehpc.com/newsletter
