“Solaris“ by Soderbergh is… brave. I can only imagine the potential it would have had with a longer duration time and slightly more elaborate plot and attention to detail. It brings to light some concepts related to the morality of the human being that few other times have succeeded so well. • To quote a user's comment I found on another video about Soderbergh's Solaris: To compare it to Tarkovsky's version is, imo, premature, as they both bring out different aspects of Lem's novel , and he's absolutely right: I don't understand why some people tend to criticize and ignore this new interpretation when it's pretty clear that it's not a Tarkovsky remake. • I would classify Solaris as one of the movies that can be seen over and over again and take on deeper and deeper meanings each time. The theme of what it means to be human is ubiquitous and studied to the smallest detail, and in my opinion Cameron and Soderbergh have succeeded in crafting a modern adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's novel that is nothing short of perfect, rich in meaning, with brilliant soundtracks and a realization that makes it easy to say that it is one of the most ambitious and best conceived sci-fi films of recent decades. • You can find my reviews here: https://letterboxd.com/giuseppetm/fil... • Check out my Letterboxd profile and follow me if you'd like to: • 🟠🟢🔵 https://letterboxd.com/Giuseppetm/ • 🎦 Film: Solaris, 2002 (Steven Soderbergh). • 🎼 Soundtrack list: • 00:00 - Don't Blow It • 03:16 - First Sleep • 05:45 - Maybe You're My Puppet • 07:50 - Wear Your Seatbelt • I do not own the rights of the movie or music. • All rights belong to their respectful owners. • Thanks for watching.
