Wide of presidential compound • • STORYLINE • • French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner met on Thursday with Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and separately with chief Palestinian peace negotiator Ahmed Qureia in the West Bank city of Ramallah. • • The progress in peace negotiations with Israel was discussed in both meetings. • • The peace process since Annapolis is so far still ongoing, meetings and negotiations are also still ongoing and we are waiting for results to be announced but until now we have no results, Abbas told a news conference after the meeting. • • Earlier in the day, Kouchner met with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. • • We talked with the Israelis and we clarified to them our unchangeable position about settlement activities.
