You want to remove the old adhesive layer off of the stainless steel button. You need to clean the button and the windshield off with a grease and wax remover. Before you clean the windshield you want to mark where the old adhesive spot was before removing the old adhesive so you know where to place the new adhesive. After you clean the button and windshield, inside the Permatex kit there is an adhesion promoter pad that you need to open. Open the adhesive promoter pack and wipe on a centered location (where the old adhesive was that you clean off). Let the adhesive promoter dry for about 60 seconds. Put one drop of the adhesive supplied in the Permatex kit onto the center of the stainless steel button. Quickly apply the button on the windshield making sure the button is oriented correctly and that it is straight up and down. Put firm pressure on the button for 60 seconds. Allow the adhesive to dry for at least 30 minutes.
