Blood gives 7% of the total body weight. There is an average of 5-6 litres of blood in the male. Female has 4-5 litres of blood. Blood has 55% plasma and 45% cells Plasma is the liquid part of blood. It contains 92% water, 8% protein, minerals and other nutrients. The function of plasma is to transport digested food, hormones, enzymes, remove waste product, Control body temperature etc. Centrifuge is used to separate blood components. • Blood cells are Red Blood Corpuscles (RBC), While blood corpuscles (WBC), and Platelets. • WBC main function is to protect the body from the disease and cancer cells. • Platelets helps in blood clotting • RBC helps in oxygen carrying and waste gas removal. Life span of RBC is 120 days. Its destruction takes place in Spleen. It contains haemoglobin, in which home iron containing compound is found and due to this, the colour of blood is red.
