Each one has easily gone a decade or more before it needed replacement and continually print well up until they completely die. In fact my Laserjet 2200 from 14 years ago is still chugging away even after it was dropped and the reset button fell out of it. • This one is surprisingly capable for the price. It's as fast as a printer I would have paid easily twice as much for in the past, has excellent print quality, and seamlessly configures itself for every electronic device I have in the house - tablet, phone, computer, or otherwise. It even supports Google Cloud Print for Chromebooks. • What's nice is that it also has a manual feed which is something that's not always found in low cost laser printers these days. I was able to print a small stack of 3x5 index cards using the feeder vs. loading them in the paper tray. • Toner included with the less expensive version of this printer is a lame intro cartridge - probably an attempt to hit the sub $200 pricetag. I'd suggest just going with the version with the full toner since the replacement will cost about $110. The cartridges are good for about 3,000 pages with just text and minimal coverage. Printing items with photos and graphics will reduce that number a bit but it's still more economical page to page vs. an inkjet printer. • One important note is that this printer does not have Wifi built in - so you will need to connect it up to your network switch or router with an ethernet cable (not included). It can also connect directly to a PC with USB (cable also not included). The only way to use it with mobile devices like phones and tablets is to get it connected to the network. I do like how it will tell you the printer's IP address on the main display without having to hunt for it. The printer has a small web server that is helpful for configuring it. • Those looking for duplexing (printing on both sides of the paper) will also need to look at a higher-end model. But all in this is a mid-range printer for a low-end price. I can definitely recommend it. • Subscribe to my email list to get a weekly digest of upcoming videos! - http://lon.tv/email • Visit the Lon.TV store to purchase some of my previously reviewed items! http://lon.tv/store • Read more about my transparency and disclaimers: http://lon.tv/disclosures • Want to chat with other fans of the channel?
