The situation has gone from bad to worse in the Lichtenburg-based Ditsobotla Local Municipality in North West. Contract workers have downed tools, complaining that they did not receive their December salaries. Some of them are essential service workers, who say this non-payment of their salaries has affected them immensely. The protesting contract workers blocked the entrance to the municipality and tossed municipal documents all over the town of Lichtenburg.
